Day 1 - COLOMBO to NEGOMBO
Welcome to Sri Lanka! You will be picked up at your hotel in Colombo or at CMB International Airport. Pick up will be in a comfortable, late model passenger touring van, with awesome AC and bottled water to refresh you. You will travel in comfort, with plenty of room for 4 passengers and baggage. At pickup, we will provide assistance with currency conversion, SIM cards, baggage pick up, or whatever we can do to make your first day pleasant.
You will be taken to Negombo to check in at your reserved accommodations. If time and energy levels permit, we will visit the famous Fish Market in Negombo.
NIGHT #1 Overnight in Negombo.
Day 2 - ANURADHAPURA
You will be picked up at your accommodations and we will journey north to Anuradhapura. Anuradhapura is the first ancient capital of Sri Lanka. As capital, it lasted the longest period in the country. It is sacred to locals for religion, history, and culture and world-famous for its well preserved ruins of the Great Sri Lankan Civilization. The Civilization built upon this city was one of the greatest civilizations of Asia and in the world. The ancient city of Sri Lanka is especially sacred to the Buddhist world. It is surrounded by monasteries covering sixteen square miles. It is one of the world's major archaeological sites, named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982.
NIGHT #2 - Overnight in Anuradhapura.
Day 3 - POLONNARUWA
We will spend the day exploring Polonnaruwa. It was the second capital of Sri Lanka after the destruction of Anuradhapura in 993. In addition to the Brahmanic monuments built by the Cholas, the ruins of the fabulous garden-city was created by Parakramabahu I in the 12th century. Within a rectangle of city walls, stand Palace buildings and clusters of dozens of Dagobas, Temples and various other religious buildings. A scattering of other historic buildings can be found to the north. Sites such as Habarana and Dambulla. It's undeniable beauty has been documented in numerous videos and films. The city was was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982.
NIGHT #3 - Overnight in Polonnaruwa.
Day 4 SIGIRIYA - LION'S ROCK
Hotel pick-up at agreed time. Today we will visit Sigiriya, or Lion's Rock. Sigiriya is an ancient rock fortress located in the northern Matale District near the town of Dambulla. The site is of major historical and archaeological significance. It dominates a massive column of rock nearly 660 ft high. According to the ancient Sri Lankan chronicle the Culavamsa, this site was selected by King Kasyapa (477 – 495 CE) for his new capital. He built his palace on the top of this rock and decorated its sides with colorful frescoes. On a small plateau about halfway up the side of this rock he built a gateway in the form of an enormous lion. The name "Lion's Rock" is derived from this structure. The capital and Royal Palace was was abandoned after the Kings death. It was used as a Buddhist monastery until the 14th century. Sigiriya is said to be one of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planning. Sigiriya was named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982.
Day 4 (cont) DAMBULLA CAVE TEMPLE
On day 4, we will also visit Dambulla Cave Temple. Dambulla is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the surrounding plains. There are more than 80 documented caves in this area. Major attractions are spread over five caves, which contain numerous statues and paintings. These paintings and statues are related to Gautama Buddha and his life. There are a total of 153 Buddha statues, three statues of Sri Lankan kings and four statues of gods and goddesses. The latter include Vishnu and the Ganesha. The murals cover an area of 23,000 sq ft. Prehistoric Sri Lankan's would have lived in these cave complexes before the arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Near Dambulla, at Ibbankatuwa, there are burial sites with human remains dating approximately 2700 years old. Dambulla was named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1991.
NIGHT # 4 - Overnight in Dambulla.
Today we will drive from Dambulla to Kandy. Kandy is a major city in Sri Lanka, located in the Central Province. It was the last capital of the ancient Kings' era. The city lies in the midst of hills in the Kandy plateau, which crosses an area of tropical farms and tea plantations. Kandy is Most famous for the Temple of the Tooth. It is one of the most sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world. The temple houses an ancient tooth relic said to be from Buddha. Once a year it is brought out of the temple for celebration. At the Temple of the Tooth, we will tour the temple, and watch a traditional dance presentation by the indigenous people.
After our temple visit, we will visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Perdeniya.
Kandy was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1988.
NIGHT #5 - Overnight in Kandy
Day 6 NUWARA ELIYA
Today, we will visit the stunning Tea Factories of Nuwara Eliya. You will observe an actual working tea factory, and see the colorful (friendly) workers in the field. This is a beautiful photo opportunity. You will have a chance to pick some tea alongside the actual workers, and of course we will taste some of the finest tea in the world.
Afterwards, we will visit Nuwara Eliya's famous Pink Post Office.
NIGHT #6 - Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 7 - TRAIN TO ELLA
Today we will take the world famous train ride from Nuwara Eliya to Ella! This train ride will take you through Sri Lanka's hill country and is considered to be one of the top ten train rides in the world. You will pass hundreds of photo opportunities. The scenery is breathtaking, accompanied by smiling people all along the journey.
After the train, we will tour Horton Plains. Horton Plains as part of the Central Highlands, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2010. This unique eco system is not to be missed. After our time at Horton Plains, we will make a photo stop at Mini Adam's Peak and visit Rawana Cave.
NIGHT #7 - Overnight in Ella.
Day 8 - YALA NATIONAL PARK
Today we will travel from Ella to Yala and take a Wildlife Safari in Yala National Park.
Yala National Park is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka. The park consists of five blocks, two of which are now open to the public. Yala was designated as a wildlife sanctuary in 1900, and a National Park in 1938. The park is best known for its variety of wild animals. It is important for the conservation of Sri Lankan elephants, Sri Lankan leopards and numerous aquatic birds.

Day 9 - MIRISSA WHALE WATCH
We will travel from Yala to Mirissa for a relaxing day of ocean activity. This area is famous for dolphin and whale watching. You can also snorkel and scuba if you wish. This day you decide what to do! Once in Marissa, you can take a Whale Watching excursion or spend a relaxing day at the beach.

Day 10 - GALLE to COLOMBO
On your final day, we will travel from Mirissa to Galle by train along the seashore. This is a lot of fun and a photo opportunity that must not be missed. In Galle, we will visit the old Dutch areas, and Galle Fort. We will also make a stop at the beach. After Galle, we will continue to Colombo for a City tour.
Day 10 - End of Tour
After our drive from Galle, we will do a full city tour of Colombo, visiting all the famous points of interest. You will visit Buddhist and Hindu temples, visit historical monuments, and let you have a stop at Pettah Market for last minute shopping. Time permitting, we will also visit the National Museum. After your city tour of Colombo, we will return you to your requested drop point in Colombo, or to CMB Airport.

This tour is for a private guided tour of Sri Lanka. A late model passenger touring van will be provided. Van has excellent Ac, double sun roofs, window shades for afternoon sun, and a small cooler on board for drinks. ALL COSTS FOR THE VEHICLE AND DRIVER ARE INCLUDED IN THIS TOUR. This includes driver-guide, vehicle, fuel, taxes, tolls, and insurance. Driver's accommodations and meals are also included.
Passenger hotel accommodations, meals, beverages, entrance fees to parks, museums, temples and activities, as well as any spending of a personal nature are not included. Accommodations can be handled in several ways. We are happy to suggest hotels in all price ranges. Everything from budget to 5 star accommodations. You make also book you own accommodations online with any of the major hotel booking engines. Generally speaking, the hotels we suggest will also offer a light breakfast in the price. Hotel costs usually begin around $35 and go upwards to satisfy your needs and specific budget. We are happy to suggest, and offer our knowledge of the area, or you make arrangements privately.
